Alex Belzile will participate in the AHL All-Star Game

(Laval) Alex Belzile, captain of the Laval Rocket, will be at the American Hockey League All-Star Game to be held Sunday and Monday at Place Bell. He will replace teammate Justin Barron.

The forward played the Habs’ last five games before being sent back to the academy immediately following Tuesday night’s loss to the Ottawa Senators. During his stint with the Canadiens, he amassed four assists.

For his part, Barron is still with the Canadiens despite the break from the NHL All-Star Game. The defender is therefore unavailable for the event.

Belzile, who will make his second appearance in the AHL All-Star Game, has scored 13 goals and 12 assists in 29 games with the Laval squad. The center will join Anthony Richard as the Rocket’s representative. They are two of the six Quebecers who will take part in the event.

Syracuse Crunch forwards Gabriel Dumont and Alex Barré-Boulet will be there, as will defensemen Samuel Bolduc, who will represent the Bridgeport Islanders, and Maxime Lajoie, from the Chicago Wolves.

A skills competition will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. It will pit the stars of the two divisions of the Eastern Conference against those of the Western Conference. The next day at 7 p.m. there will be a 3-on-3 round robin.
