A man was arrested in Paris on Friday April 19 after an alert at the Iranian consulate. A few months earlier, he had already tried to set fire to the embassy.
In Paris, an individual was quickly arrested by the police on Friday April 19. Holed up in a room in the Iranian consulate, in the presence of the ambassador, he allegedly put flags on the ground and announced that he wanted to avenge his brother’s death. Of Iranian origin, the intruder would have already been arrested in 2023 for lighting a fire in front of the embassy. He was sentenced to eight months in prison and banned from appearing in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
No source of explosives found
Equipped with a fake explosive vest, he was unarmed when he was arrested. He was taken into custody Friday afternoon. Police, soldiers and firefighters quickly mobilized in this very touristy area of Paris, not far from the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. The bomb squad did not find any source of explosives at the scene of the intervention.
