(Toronto) Toronto Blue Jays teammates Alek Manoah and outfielder George Springer have been added to the American’s roster for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Sunday.

The 24-year-old pitcher leads the Jays starters with nine wins and a 2.34 ERA. Manoah ranks third in the American in both of those stats.
Manoah, in his second season in MLB, will play in his first All-Star Game.
Springer, 32, will be making his fourth All-Star Game appearance. He has 16 homers this season, which puts him in second place with the Blue Jays, only behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (19), who will also be in the game.
Guerrero and wide receiver Alejandro Kirk were elected as starters on Friday after a fan vote.
A year after Shohei Ohtani became the first player in history to be selected as a pitcher and hitter, the Los Angeles Angels star has pulled off the feat again.
Ohtani was selected by AHL pitching executives two days after fans picked the designated hitter.
New York Yankees pitchers Clay Holmes, Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes all broke into the American’s lineup. A total of six Yankees players, with starting outfielders Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton and backup receiver Jose Trevino, will take part in the duel.
The Houston Astros have five All-Star Game players in their roster: pitchers Justin Verlander and Framber Valdez, outfielder Kyle Tucker, designated hitter Yordan Álvarez and second baseman Jose Altuve.
Álvarez, however, was placed on the injured list on Sunday with a right hand injury.
The Jays, New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals all have four players in the matchup.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez was the only rookie to earn a spot on the team. At 21, he is also the youngest player to take part in the game.
A total of 30 players will participate in the All-Star Game for the first time.
The 92e edition of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be played on July 19 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
