The discount retail chain Aldi is recalling batches of frozen shrimp from the Golden Seafood brand, contaminated with the so-called “flesh-eating” bacteria Vibrio vulnificus. Aldi calls on consumers to “destroy the product” or to the “return to point of sale“, we can read on the Rappel Conso website.

The Vibrio vulnificus bacteria is likely, in certain cases, to infect wounds, particularly in cases of “product handling”, says Aldi, which earned it its nickname “flesh eater”. This bacteria can also cause “gastrointestinal disorders” at the “healthy people” but also a “sepsis”a generalized infection, to people “fragile”.

These are products marketed from March 18 to June 5, in a 400 gram tray. The regions affected by this product recall are Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Centre-Val de Loire, Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France, Île-de-France, Normandy, Nouvelle-Aquitaine , Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
