>> The Grégory affair summarized in five dates.
Albert and his wife Monique Villemin had been admitted together a few years ago to the Baccarat nursing home (Meurthe-et-Moselle), because of their fragile health. Monique Villemin died at the age of 88, in April 2020 at the start of the first wave of Covid-19.
A 39-year-old mystery
This court case has had many twists and turns. In June 2017, almost 33 years after the death of little Grégory, five people were arrested in the Vosges, including Marcel Jacob (brother of Monique Villemin) and Jacqueline Jacob (wife of Marcel). Albert and Monique Villemin were heard in free hearing at the time of these arrests.
Grégory’s father, Jean-Marie Villemin, notably accused his mother of having information about the death of the child and suspected her of wanting to protect her eldest son, Michel. Me Thierry Moser declared to franceinfo on April 20, 2020 that according to him, Monique Villemin was “an important, central figure” of the case and that she “was in possession of certain information”. He added: “I think Monique could have brought it to justice”but “unfortunately she didn’t”.
