Alain Trudel appointed to Trois-Rivières

Conductor Alain Trudel was named artistic director and regular conductor of the Orchester symphonique de Trois-Rivières on Thursday. He becomes the fourth chef to hold this position after the founder Gilles Bellemare (1978-2005), Jacques Lacombe (2006-2018) and Jean-Claude Picard, who will only have one thankless mandate, between 2019 and 2021.

Alain Trudel left the Orchester symphonique de Laval to everyone’s surprise in June 2022, when the orchestra announced in December 2021 the next renewal of his mandate. Tensions with the administration had been mentioned to explain this departure. The said administration has also been completely renewed since, with a new general management.

In Trois-Rivières, Alain Trudel, also regular conductor and artistic director of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of the Brott Music Festival and the Orchestra of the National Academy of Canada, will begin in the fall of 2023.

Among his first objectives, the new artistic director cites the development of the influence of the orchestra thanks to its links with the record company Atma Classique and various festivals.
