Alain Souchon and his two sons celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Louvre-Lens with song

The Louvre-Lens museum celebrates its tenth year. And if there is an artist who has been ten for years, it is Alain Souchon. This Saturday, June 5, 2022, the singer therefore came to celebrate with his two sons, Pierre and Ours, this anniversary in front of 3,000 conquered spectators. “I love all his songs”, rejoices a spectator.

He has just celebrated his 78th birthday, but when he goes on stage, Alain Souchon still has a child’s soul. Despite the rain, the atmosphere in the park was at its zenith to applaud the musician who has lost none of his humor. He tackles his lifelong friend, Laurent Voulzy, exchanges with the spectators in all simplicity and does not forget to pay homage to the North with the song Almost which evokes the grand place of Lille or even The kiss which takes as its backdrop the beaches of Malo-les-Bains. “I have a lot of family who come from the region, I love the North, the atmosphere and the people are particularly warm, everyone says so”, says the artist.

The day before, Ours and Pierre, his two musician sons each offered a free concert in the park and on the museum stage. “It was the first time that I saw them both in the same evening interpreting their songs which are sensitive and beautiful, it moved me a lot”, says Alain Souchon.

On the occasion of his concert in the park, Alain Souchon was able to visit the gallery of time which constitutes the heart of the Louvre‐Lens. It presents more than 200 masterpieces from the collections of the Louvre, in a spectacular space of 3000 m², and offers a unique journey through the history of art. “They have made a place extraordinarily beautiful in its presentation and in what is inside, the collection is extraordinary”, enthuses the musician.

Inaugurated in December 2012, the Louvre-Lens museum is both a strong symbol of cultural decentralization and marks the heritage of the mining area of ​​the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. Built on an old mine pit, it hosts two temporary exhibitions each year putting into perspective an era, an artist, a civilization or even cross-cutting themes in the history of art..

A true cultural city, the Louvre-Lens is the 2nd most visited museum in the region after the Musée des Confluences in Lyon. It welcomes an average of 450,000 visitors per year.

The festivities for the Louvre-Lens anniversary will continue until December 4, 2022.
