More than 60 journalists and media workers have died since the start of the war between Hamas and Israel.

An Al Jazeera journalist was killed on Friday, December 15, and another injured in an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip, the Qatari channel reported. “It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the loss of our dedicated Al Jazeera cameraman, Samer Abou Daqa.”wrote on X Mohamed Moawad, an editor-in-chief of the Qatari television channel.
According to Al Jazeera, Samer Abou Daqa was seriously injured but remained for hours at the scene of the strike, which emergency services did not reach because the road was blocked by the rubble of a house. Wael Dahdouh, also a journalist for Al Jazeera, was injured in the arm and transferred to Nasser hospital in Khan Younès, according to AFP. Wael Dahdouh’s wife and two of his children were killed by an Israeli strike on October 25 in Gaza.
A first bombing targeted a school of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Khan Younes, which the two Al Jazeera journalists came to cover, when a second bombing took place, according to a press release from the Hamas movement in power in Gaza. This second strike was aimed “deliberately the journalists”, according to the Palestinian Islamist movement. More than 60 journalists and media workers have died since the war between Hamas and Israel began on October 7.
