The mea culpa of the AJA. Auxerre apologized after the middle fingers of its coach Jean-Marc Furlan, addressed to the public of Clermont, Sunday at the Gabriel-Montpied stadium, during the match of the 10th day of Ligue 1 between the two teams (2-1 ).
While the technician was expelled for his gesture, which occurred in the additional time of the meeting, the Burgundy club denounced, Monday, October 10, “an inappropriate attitude that the club disapproves of and which does not correspond to the values of respect and fair play advocated and always transmitted by AJA”.

“I went to see the referee because I considered that there was no fault and the public insulted me. And I gave the middle fingers” admitted Jean-Marc Furlan in a post-match press conference. “I’m quite violent in my behavior when it’s for football. You don’t know me: I don’t have a brain! But I don’t regret it at all. And then I didn’t go to the referee to apologize and I don’t want to”.
This is not the first time that the French technician finds himself in this situation. On the Brest bench in March 2018, he gave a middle finger to a Brest supporter after a defeat against Tours (1-3). If Jean-Marc Furlan had apologized and had not been sanctioned at the time, the Disciplinary Committee of the League will this time crack down. “We apologize to the Clermont public and to our supporters”concluded AJ Auxerre in its press release.
