WestJet spokeswoman Morgan Bell said flights to and from Charlottetown Airport, Prince Edward Island, and Deer Lake Regional Airport, Land -Neuve, resumed on Monday.

The Sydney-JA Douglas McCurdy Airport website says Nova Scotia’s aviation hub is expected to resume commercial flights Tuesday afternoon.

Halifax International Airport Authority spokeswoman Leah Batstone said the preemptive cancellation of many flights has resulted in a sharp drop in activity at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, but that the airport resumed normal operations on Sunday.

Live flight tracking company FlightAware found that only four flights to Halifax Stanfield Airport were canceled on Monday, along with three to Charlottetown Airport and one to Deer Lake Regional Airport.

Mme Batstone encourages travelers to confirm their flight status before heading to the airport and recommends allowing extra time for parking, check-in and security screening before boarding.
