Motorists traveling on Highway 20 in the Beloeil sector were surprised when they saw a small plane crash-land along the expressways on Thursday morning.
The aircraft was to land at Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil airport, located a few meters away, but the maneuver would have failed.
The plane would have continued on its way once it reached the end of the runway and would have ended its course by partially encroaching on the right lane of Highway 20 East, at kilometer 109.
No one was injured during the incident, according to the Sûreté du Québec, but the aircraft would still have suffered considerable damage.
Several emergency services were on the scene at the end of the morning. The event caused a huge traffic jam in the area.
