The US carrier Aviation Capital Group has announced the purchase of 60 aircraft from Airbus, including 20 A220, the CSeries aircraft developed by Bombardier.
More specifically, the carrier said it had reached a firm agreement to purchase 40 aircraft from the A320 neo family, in addition to having reached an agreement for the purchase of 20 A220s.
If this agreement comes to fruition, it could be good news for Airbus employees in Mirabel, where the A220 aircraft are assembled.
Aviation Capital Group President and CEO Thomas Baker said he is happy to modernize its fleet with aircraft “that will provide our customers with the most modern and fuel efficient aircraft available.”
For its part, Airbus was delighted to have been chosen to supply new aircraft to the carrier.
It must be said that Aviation Capital Group praised the aircraft developed by Bombardier, before passing into the fold of Airbus. “The A220 is the only aircraft designed specifically for the 100 to 150 seat market and brings together state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and latest generation Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines. […] The A220 is a great device for regional and long-range operations, ”the company stated.
The amount of the acquisition and the type of A220 devices that will be acquired have not been disclosed.
