The airlines Air France and Transavia France are suspending their services to Beirut on Monday and Tuesday, “due to the security situation at the destination”announced a spokesperson for the Air France-KLM group on Monday, July 29. This decision comes in a context of fears about a military conflagration between Israel and Hezbollah, following a deadly strike attributed by Israel to the Shiite movement on the Golan Heights.

Europe’s largest airline group, Lufthansa, also announced on Monday that it was suspending its flights to Beirut. Flights by the German group’s companies – Lufthansa, Eurowings and Swiss – to the Lebanese capital are “cancelled up to and including August 5 due to current developments in the Middle East”said a company spokesman. Lufthansa usually operates regular flights to Lebanon through these three airlines exclusively via Beirut airport.
