Air Canada | The pilots request the intervention of a conciliator

The union representing Air Canada pilots says it intends to request the intervention of a federal conciliator in negotiations with the airline.

The Airline Pilots Association, which represents more than 5,000 Air Canada pilots, says the two sides are still far from an agreement. The union intends to exit the voluntary mediation process on June 15.

He announces that he will send a notice of dispute to inform the federal Ministry of Labor that the two parties have failed to reach a new agreement. He will ask him to appoint a conciliator in the case.

Air Canada says it negotiates in good faith. The company plans to continue to do so over the coming months.

She adds that her customers can continue to book and travel with confidence as the normal negotiation process continues.

Canadian pilots highlighted the growing gap between their salaries and that of their colleagues at the largest American airlines. Last year, they obtained a four-year collective agreement giving them total increases ranging from 34 to 40%.
