The carrier Air Canada announced a partnership with the Professional Women’s Hockey League (LPHF) on Thursday.
Air Canada becomes a premier inaugural partner of the LPHF and official airline of the circuit’s six initial teams, which will launch its activities on January 1.
“We are incredibly excited and delighted to partner with the LPHF and be a part of this historic moment,” said Andy Shibata, Vice President – Brands, Air Canada.
The New York and Toronto teams will kick off the league’s first season on New Year’s Day.
Montreal will play Ottawa the next day.
“We are thrilled to team up with Canada’s national carrier, the premier inaugural partner and official carrier of the LPHF,” said Amy Scheer, LPHF Senior Vice President of Commercial Affairs.
“We feel privileged to be able to travel with Air Canada. This bond reflects our shared values and the enormous potential of the league, its players and our future stars to propel the sport to new heights. »
Air Canada obtains the intellectual property rights for the league’s six teams, i.e. Boston, Minnesota, Montreal, New York, Ottawa and Toronto, as well as for the LPHF itself, the broadcast content, the brand in the stadiums and the advertising in the markets.
The agreement also includes the rights to affix the Air Canada brand on the official jersey of the Montreal team.
Air Canada is the official carrier of the seven Canadian NHL teams and the Toronto Raptors in the NBA.
