During riots in Martinique on Thursday October 10, rioters stormed the Aimé-Césaire airport in order to protest against the high cost of living.

Thursday October 10, demonstrators filmed themselves on the runways of Aimé-Césaire airport (Martinique). Some attacked the facilities, forcing the airport to close and diverting flights to neighboring Guadeloupe. Eight people were arrested in the afternoon of the same day.

As night falls, the tension rises a notch. On the highway which serves the airport, concessions were set on fire and two men on motorbikes were killed. A new peak of violence has been reached in the protest movement against the high cost of living on the island, which began last September. Seen from the sky, the damage is considerable. A hypermarket was set on fire during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. The prefect imposed a curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., extended until Monday, but difficult to enforce.
