How to make industries greener and limit their greenhouse gas emissions? In Normandy, a factory manufactures various chemical products. This activity releases a large amount of C02. According to the director, it is impossible to do otherwise. To remedy this, the company has already launched work. A biomass boiler is currently under construction. Natural gas would also have to be replaced by water to make ammonia. Several tens of millions of euros have already been put on the table. The goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The plant is one of 56 sites alone emitting 10% of greenhouse gases in France. Many are located in the north and east of France. This concerns cement plants and chemical, steel, sugar and refinery plants. Tuesday, November 8, the head of state Emmanuel Macron brought them together at the Elysée to ask them to go further, in exchange for a financial boost, from 5 to 10 billion euros.
