The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) arrested two teenagers and a young woman who were allegedly preparing to set fire to a bakery in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district, during the night from Thursday to Friday . In recent months, this business has been the target of four arson attacks and two gunshots.
Repeatedly targeted by fires and even gunshots, the Achtarout bakery is located at the corner of Charles-de-la-Tour and Antonio-Barbeau streets. The sector has therefore been the subject of increased surveillance by the Northern Project Investigation Section, in collaboration with neighborhood stations 17 and 10 and other specialized units of the SPVM, indicates the latter in a press release.
This monitoring has paid off. Around 1 a.m., the night of Thursday to Friday, two minors aged 16 and 17, as well as a 19-year-old woman, were arrested after smashing the windows of the business. The two young people had “incendiary objects” in their possession, specifies the SPVM. The young woman was driving the vehicle in which they arrived at the scene, and with which they then attempted to flee.
The three tried to escape, but were caught by officers and arrested. “They are currently being met by investigators and charges will be brought against them,” specifies the SPVM.
In addition to incendiary objects, cell phones and other evidence were seized.
The investigation into the threats against this bakery continues.
