Ahuntsic-Cartierville | A street flooded this summer partially closed for work

Montreal will have to carry out work to ensure the safety of a flooded street this summer during heavy rains. “Safety work” is indeed necessary in the underpass of the Salaberry viaduct.

“The ground was undermined by the torrential rains,” said Philippe Sabourin, spokesperson for the City of Montreal. Due to the configuration of the underpass, significant quantities of water accumulated there.

“It’s a low point, so the water converges towards the same sump manhole. »

Work on this Ahuntsic-Cartierville street will begin on September 27 and will require the complete closure of three lanes of the eastbound artery. However, a lane allowing traffic to the east will be maintained against the flow of traffic, on the north side of the street.

As the exit from Highway 15 South leading to rue de Salaberry is also closed, a detour will be set up via the exit leading to boulevard Henri-Bourassa. If access to the entrance to Highway 15 North remains accessible, the City informs that the “area should be avoided”.

It will also wait to be assured “of the conformity of all the infrastructures before reopening the viaduct”, affirmed Mr. Sabourin. The work is expected to last around ten days.
