Monday, July 18, most French people are experiencing overwhelming heat. For farmers, the situation could be very restrictive, because the animals are hot and have nothing left to eat. Also, the crops are burned by the heat wave.
France is hot on Monday July 18 and for most workers the situation is difficult. For farmers, it could even become worrying. The animals suffer from the heat and to limit the temperature, fans have been installed in some barns. Animals are also at risk of dehydration. For the cows‘is problem, since they will give less milk. Thus, farmers try to water the cattle that are suffering from the heat wave.
Feeding the animals is very complicated. The grass is running out and some breeders will soon have to use the stocks reserved for the winter. “There was still grass a week ago, but with these high temperatures, the grass has fried so the animals are no longer eating”deplores a breeder from Ariège. The cows drink a lot and there is not enough water for them. For harvests, the temperature burns future productions and many fear that they will not be able to sell anything.
