Moscow and kyiv agreed on Friday in Turkey to boost grain exports. More than 20 million tons were stuck in Black Sea ports.

“This is a deal for the world, it will relieve developing countries on the verge of bankruptcy and the most vulnerable people from starvation.” Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, seemed reassured after the agreement between Russia and Ukraine, Friday July 22, on the export of cereals, currently blocked in the ports of the Black Sea because of the war.

A commitment signed in Turkey which played a key role in the negotiations and asserts itself as a central place in this agreement. A control center will be set up in Istanbul to organize the comings and goings. Boats will also be checked on departure and arrival in Turkish waters to ensure that no ammunition is on board. The ships will also have to be escorted by the Ukrainian fleet to avoid mines placed at sea and a possible Russian attack. This agreement is valid for four months.
