According to the complaint filed in 2018 by Isaiah Silva, a musician who was married to Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain, the story begins in the early morning of June 3, 2016.
According to his account, men posing as LAPD officers break into Silva’s home and pound on his bedroom door before dragging him down the street and forcing him into a large SUV. .
The musician claims in his complaint that among his attackers were Sam Lutfi, former manager of singer Britney Spears who gravitated at the time in the entourage of Courtney Love. There was also the actor Ross Butler, made famous by the series 13 Reasons Why and Riverdalewith almost ten million subscribers on Instagram.
Silva accuses them of kidnapping, manhandling and threatening him with death at the request of Courtney Love. He claims that the latter wanted to force him to return a guitar that belonged to Kurt Cobain and bequeathed to his daughter.
This rare electro-acoustic guitar (a Martin D-18and dating from 1959) was used by Cobain in his famous “MTV Unplugged” performance in 1993, a year before his suicide.
Ownership of the legendary instrument, bitterly disputed during the divorce between Frances Cobain and Isaiah Silva, was awarded to the latter by a judge in 2016.
But according to the complaint, Courtney Love would not have accepted the guitar – which has since sold at auction for over $6 million – out of the family. She would therefore have asked Sam Lutfi and his companions to organize the kidnapping of Silva to put pressure on him.
Courtney Love and the others named by Silva have all denied taking part in such a plot.
An agreement, the terms of which have not been disclosed, was reached between the parties on Wednesday to put an end to this incredible procedure.
Renowned for her escapades and outbursts, Courtney Love, singer of the rock group Hole, has now cut ties with Sam Lutfi. The 57-year-old artist accused him of harassment and in 2018 obtained an injunction against him prohibiting him from approaching her and her family.
