(Versailles) The investigation into the assault on Paris-Saint-Germain player Kheira Hamraoui, victim of a violent ambush on the evening of November 4, was entrusted to an examining magistrate on Monday, learned AFP to the Versailles prosecutor’s office.
In this case in still unclear circumstances, the former international Eric Abidal “could be heard soon,” said the Versailles prosecutor, insisting that this fell within the competence of the investigating judge.
Eric Abidal’s name appeared in the file after investigators made a material connection between Mr.me Hamraoui and the vice-world champion: the victim used a chip on his mobile phone in the name of the footballer.
The facts date back to the evening of November 4.
Kheira Hamraoui, a 31-year-old French international, suffered an assault when she returned with Aminata Diallo from a dinner organized by their club. The player is “beaten on the legs with an iron bar” by two men who then fled, according to the prosecutor of Versailles.
Her teammate Aminata Diallo had witnessed the scene. The hypothesis of a rivalry between PSG players was first considered.
Arrested on Wednesday, Aminata Diallo was placed in police custody and then released after 36 hours in police custody without any charge being brought against her.
“Aminata Diallo deplores the perfectly artificial staging of a rivalry between her and Kheira Hamraoui which would justify her attacking her teammate,” said her lawyer, Me Mourad Battikh, sweeping aside the hypothesis of an ambush orchestrated by his client in order to take advantage of a Hamraoui injury who is evolving in the same position as her.
The name of Eric Abidal, former defender of Olympique Lyonnais and FC Barcelona, then appeared in the proceedings. Eric Abidal was sports director of FC Barcelona from 2018 to August 2020. Kheira Hamraoui played in the Catalan club’s women’s team from 2018 to 2021.
The hypothesis of a revenge in love with the entourage of Mr. Abidal is only “one track among others”, underlines the parquet floor of Versailles, which does not however exclude the possibility that the wife of Mr. Abidal, Hayet Abidal, be also heard.
For Mr. Abidal and his wife to be heard, the investigating judge responsible for the investigation must issue a letter of request.
