Faced with thefts in supermarkets, the security guards seem helpless. So, stores have decided to put certain products under lock and key.
Laundry detergents protected by a padlocked chain, toothpastes placed under safety glass and ice cream shelves locked. The scene has become common in American supermarkets. To avoid theft, some of the products are kept under lock and key, such as deodorants or disinfectant wipes. When leaving the store, customers seem to understand the measure. “It’s a bit annoying sometimes, because you have to call someone to get the product. But I understand, if it’s to help the store”indicates a customer.
If the stores had to reach such an extremity, it is because thefts have increased. In one video, a man can be seen filling an entire bag with shampoo and beauty products. The customers and security, stunned, film it. He ends up fleeing on a bike without being worried. In New York, customers try to intervene, but out of fear, they let the man escape with the merchandise.
