(Tampa) New York Yankees star Aaron Judge could return to action on Saturday after being sidelined with abdominal discomfort.
Judge has not taken part in a batting practice since Sunday. He underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test on Monday.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone plans to use Judge in center field Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Judge, however, prefers to focus on the Yankees’ opening game on March 28 against the Astros in Houston.
“There’s no rush,” Judge said Thursday. If we were in the regular season, I would play, but my goal is to return to play on March 28. »
Judge felt discomfort in his abdomen while completing a swing at bat about a week ago.
Boone said Judge could take part in batting practice Friday.
“We’ll reevaluate the situation on a daily basis,” said Judge, who laughed during batting practice Thursday.
