After winning the pursuit on the track, Dorian Foulon wins the bronze medal in the road cycling time trial

Already in gold in the pursuit in track cycling, the Frenchman offered, on Wednesday, the 43rd medal to the French delegation.

In tears at the time of the Marseillaise, Saturday, after his victory in the pursuit (C5) on the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines track, Dorian Foulon will once again taste the joys of the Paralympic podium. The French cyclist shone in the time trial (category C5), Wednesday, September 4, on the 28.3 km course, in Clichy-sous-Bois. He won the bronze medal with a time of 36’49”84, more than 58 seconds behind the winner, the Dutchman Daniel Abraham Gebru. This is the third medal in Dorian Foulon’s career after the gold medals obtained in the pursuit in Tokyo and Paris.

At the finish, the Frenchman remained lying on the road for several seconds, proof of the considerable effort made over the last few kilometres. Sixth after the first intermediate, fourth at the halfway point, Dorian Foulon accelerated in the last few kilometres. “I had prepared the race management, I wanted to finish strong. I made up time on my opponents but they started very strong”he commented after the race.

With two medals in Paris, he did better than in Tokyo. “I didn’t want to leave with just one medal. I would have preferred another colour, at least silver, but the Australian [Alistair Donohoe, deuxième] was very strong today. He had skipped the pursuit, I skipped the team speed, and fortunately because it was a close call with the Brazilian [ Lauro Cesar Mouro Chaman, quatrième]. I’m happy anyway, everyone encourages you with your first name, we’re not used to it, it pushed me and it played for third place”, he added. The cyclist will be in the running again for the road race on Friday.
