The adoption of a text on immigration, toughened by the right, united the forces of the left but does not necessarily mean a return of the Nupes.

The left is trying to come together. The forces of the New Ecological and Social Popular Union (Nupes), disunited since the position of La France insoumise on the conflict between Israel and Hamas, are trying to coordinate to denounce the government’s text on immigration, applauded by the right and the far right.
For weeks, the four parties had not signed at the bottom of the same sheet. A call to act, common to socialists, ecologists, communists and rebels, was initialed on Wednesday December 20. Other left-wing forces, such as the Radical Left Party and Place publique, have also added their signature. “We don’t care who’s angry with whoexplains to franceinfo Marine Tondelier, national secretary of EELV. There is a compelling need to show up together.”
“We have to be able to find ourselves in the same room”
But there is no great coordination at the moment. Even if the Nupes leaders met bilaterally on Wednesday to sign this appeal, the framework of the coalition was not taken up according to information from franceinfo. “We stood together in the Assembly, we have to be able to find ourselves in the same room”a deputy despairs.
The communists calm things down. They agree to come together but not to “return to Nupes” says someone close to Fabien Roussel. We have to open up to “the left outside the walls” and in particular to the majority deputies who voted against the immigration law.
