After the triumph of the Césars, “La Nuit du 12” wins the César for high school students

The César for high school students, a trophy awarded by a representative group of final year students, rewarded on Monday February 27 The Night of 12by Dominik Moll, an impossible investigation into a feminicide which triumphed last Friday at the Césars by leaving with six statuettes.

This prize was created 4 years ago, in 2019, by the Ministry of National Education and Youth, and the Académie des César, with the support of the National Cinema Center and the Federation of French Cinemas.

The story of an unsolved investigation

The film The Night of 12 by Dominik Moll won six Césars, including Best Film and Best Director. Inspired by a news item, The Night of 12 is the story of an unsolved investigation into a feminicide, presenting a gallery of suspects who do not measure the misogyny of their words. The film also tackles machismo in the police.

The other four films in the running for the César des Lycéens were: The Almond Treesby Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, In bodyby Cedric Klapisch, The Innocentby Louis Garrel and pacification – Torment on the Islandsby Albert Serra.

Last year, North ferry by Cédric Jimenez on the daily life of a police brigade in the difficult districts of Marseille, had been rewarded with the César des Lycéens. The 2023 jury was made up of nearly 2,000 students from 80 general, technological and vocational high school classes.
