After the storm in Corsica, the electricity and telephone networks gradually restored

The electrical networks are gradually being restored, albeit in difficulty. This Friday morning, twenty-four hours after the imitation hurricane that hit Corsica, another 4,800 customers were without electricity.

The most affected area was the community of Spelunca-Liamone, in the west of the island. There, 3,000 customers remained impacted. Posts on the ground and cascading incidents complicated the work of the teams, according to EDF services. It will still take time to restore everyone.

In the other micro-regions, it remained at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 19 about 600 customers cut in Cap Corse, 800 in Balagne, 200 in Ornano-Taravo and 100 in Celavo-Prunelli, the region of Bastelica. 40 staffEnedis arrived as reinforcements from the south-east of France. Up to 200 people will be on the ground, still indicates EDF Corse.

The Spelunca-Liamone gradually replenished

On the telephone network side, there too the lines are gradually recovering. “Much fewer customers than yesterday are impacted” indicated the officials of Orange for Corsica.

On fixed lines, a thousand customers were still cut off by telephone and internet this Friday morning. The energy is however restored on the networks of the Sagone-Vico sector, the zone most affected by the bad weather of the day before.

Only 2 mobile phone sites remain down. The 4 operators present on the island nevertheless remain impacted. The current is still cut in the Ota-Portu area. “It’s in the process of recovery”explained this Friday Jean-Francois Poliresponsible for the relations ofOrange with local communities. The installations did not suffer any serious damage. Nearly 400 personnel are mobilized on this side of the disturbances, including 200 in the field, as well as subcontractors. Reinforcements from the continent are also expected.
