A case that is nothing short of incredible. Three new people, including two real estate developers, have been indicted in the so-called case of the mayor of Agde (Hérault) and the “ventriloquist clairvoyant”, the Béziers prosecutor’s office announced on Friday, August 2.

After 48 hours in police custody, these three directors of real estate companies were indicted on Thursday on charges of “active corruption” and “misuse of corporate assets or breach of trust”, and placed under judicial supervision, explained in a press release the prosecutor of Béziers, Raphaël Balland, without giving further details on their identity or the facts alleged.

Thirteen people are now under investigation in this case, the central character of which is a forty-year-old woman who presents herself as a clairvoyant, medium and “healer”. This mother is said to have managed, by modifying her voice, to place several of her close relations under her control, including Gilles d’Ettore, former MP and mayor of Agde from 2001 until his resignation at the end of May 2024. In particular, she is said to have used this stratagem to encourage Gilles d’Ettore to “caring about well-being” of his “friend”herself therefore, “including materially”.

In front of the investigators, the clairvoyant admitted to having benefited from numerous services, in particular the recruitment within the commune or the agglomeration of five of her relatives, and gifts offered by entrepreneurs in contact with Gilles d’Ettore, including the taking charge of his sumptuous third marriage last year and work in his house.

Gilles d’Ettore, indicted for illegal taking of interests and corruption, claims to have been framed. Both were released on conditions at the end of June, after three months of pretrial detention. The others indicted are the clairvoyant’s husband, her daughter, a close friend of her, a 63-year-old real estate developer, two regional executives of the Eiffage construction group, as well as a father and son, owners of a supermarket in Agde.

According to the Béziers prosecutor, the investigations into this sensational affair should last “still many months”Several dozen people have already been interviewed since the start of the investigation initiated in October 2023.
