After the hoax in Nîmes, the prosecutor warns “Once we know where, we will know who”

It is now for the investigators to find the author of the hoax which paralyzed an entire southern part of the city of Nîmes this Tuesday at the very end of the day. The Jonquilles district, very close to the road to Arles, was completely cordoned off for an hour and a half. The police had been called for a hostage-taking in an apartment. Finally it was a malicious call. Except that many police officers were mobilized, until the Montpellier Raid. Investigators are exploring the mobile phone network and computer tools in particular to try to trace the author of this call.

The public prosecutor of Nîmes Eric Maurel specifies: “The police have increasingly sophisticated technical means. They are of course _work on telephony, but also on other media in telematics and IT_. As you know today we do not only call from a telephone

“It remains to be determined how the call was made. This will make it possible to know where it was made. Once we know where, we will know who (..)” Eric Maurel, Public Prosecutor of Nîmes, on France Bleu Gard Lozere

And Eric Maurel to specify, again: “We have material to work with. Nothing says besides that the call comes from someone in the neighborhood, it can come from someone hundreds of kilometers away“.
