After the failure of the Olympics, Perrine Laffont would find it “a pity to stop at 23”

On Sunday February 6, Perrine Laffont failed to climb the podium at the Beijing Olympics. Fourth after his third run, the world star of mogul skiing had to settle for the chocolate medal. A disappointment for the Ariègeoise, defending champion.

Two weeks after this failure, the 23-year-old is back home this Saturday, February 19 for the Perrine Laffont Winter Camp. Without a medal around her neck, she will come to pass on her passion for bump skiing to the Monts d’Olmes, her favorite resort, the one where she started her sport, the one that saw her grow up.

Transmitting the passion for freestyle skiing, but not only

This Saturday, two mogul tracks will be set up, one for beginners, the other for experienced riders. “There will be an air bag, it’s a big cushion of air where children can jump without hurting themselves, explains Perrine Laffont. There will be a trampoline and then there will also be a bump skiing initiation with me. I will initiate the children, give them little advice.

Manage my choices

The world champion also intends to transmit her values during this event: “EDF is organizing a stand to raise awareness of disabled sport. You will be able to test, with a mask that blurs your vision, what visually impaired people see.” The child of the country has also joined forces with Ariège Nature to raise awareness of ecology, “on the protection of nature and on the protection of birds”.

Break at home before the season resumes

Perrine Laffont will also take advantage of her visit to the Monts d’Olmes to recharge her batteries with her family. Before returning home to the Alps to resume training. The next stage of the World Cup will take place on March 12 at Chiesa in Valmalenco in Italy. Does the Ariègeoise feel ready to leave? “It’s not because it didn’t end as we would have liked at the Games that the season ends there, says Perrine Laffont. There are still three beautiful stages to go. I’m in good shape, I’m full of motivation and I want to have fun on these last stages.”

Did she want to hang up the skis after her fourth place? “Life goes on and even if it’s hard and it still remains so during this period of the Games, you have to move on, set new goals and then move on. Life does not stop with this fourth place. It would be a shame to stop at 23.”
