Wednesday June 14, a few days after the destruction of a dam, the inhabitants of the region of Nikopol, in Ukraine, face a shortage of water. This situation worries farmers in particular who fear for their crops.

On one side of the destroyed dam is the plane of Kherson (Ukraine), drowned under water. On the other, upstream of the Dnieper River, the region is left dry. An entire ecosystem is threatened. Powerless, authorities and residents witness the agony of asphyxiated fish. Since the 1950s, this immense reservoir, upstream of the dam of Kakhovkaprovides the region with water. Today, the artificial reservoir of 18 billion tons is inexorably emptying. A week after the explosion, Wednesday June 14, its level fell by 13 meters.
