On the left bank of the Dnieper, in the zone controlled by the Russians, it is only possible to circulate by boat. In Kokhany, the water submerged everything but did not erase the war. During their patrols, the rescuers came across a drowned Russian military truck. A few meters away, we can only see the roof of a checkpoint, while artillery fire is heard in the distance.

The Russian rescue services are progressing with difficulty on the river, which has invaded everything for several kilometres. “Here, the visibility is very bad in the water. There are fences and our boat is PVC. We risk at any time to burst it“, worries one of them. The flooded houses number in the thousands. Some have collapsed because of the water. In the distance, we can see inhabitants who have taken refuge on a strip of land. They are now stuck there. They blame the emergency services for not having evacuated them. To hold on, the Russian soldiers gave them rations.
