after the death of his wife, a man files a complaint against the Samu and the doctor whom the couple contacted without success for six days

A 77-year-old man files a complaint for failure to assist a person in danger in Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne (Mayenne) after the death of his 80-year-old wife. The man claims that, despite repeated calls to the Samu, no one came to help this elderly person.

An investigation is opened by the gendarmerie of Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne (Mayenne) for non-assistance to person in danger, learned France Bleu Mayenne this Wednesday. On January 2, an 80-year-old woman died in Laval hospital from a pacemaker infection. Her 77-year-old husband denounces late support for relief. He filed a complaint for failure to assist a person in danger. A complaint confirmed by France Bleu Mayenne with the Laval prosecutor’s office.

On December 14, 2022 in the morning, Alice Goulet wakes up sick, she is very weak, says France Bleu Mayenne. She can barely stand up and knowing her heart problems, her husband, Raymond Goulet, decides to call for help, in vain. “For six days, I called the Samu, I called the doctor back and no one came”, traces the septuagenarian to France Bleu Mayenne.

“No one ever wanted to come”

The couple is followed at the Louverné health center. According to Raymond Goulet, one of the doctors replies that he does not have time to move. The septuagenarian also affirms that the Samu needs the passage of the doctor to bring an ambulance. “Emergency told me, ‘we need a doctor’s paper before we go’. But I said, ‘the doctor doesn’t want to come, so what do I do? You wait for her to die or what ?'”sighs Raymond Goulet, tears in his eyes.

The couple live in a house located within the Domitys senior residence in Louverné. Faced with the distress of Raymond Goulay, the director of the establishment also tried to intervene. “He came to see my wife and said to me: it’s not possible, they will still come. He then told me that he was going to take care of it and call them. But no one ever wanted to come, denounces the 77-year-old man.

The hospital will make the phone tapes available to investigators

After five days of waiting, on Monday December 19, 2022, the emergency services took care of Alice Goulay and transported her to Mayenne hospital. A doctor can finally auscultate him. “He said to me: she has a small infection of her pacemaker, and if she had been treated right away, it would not have been serious. A few antibiotics and it was gone again”, details Raymond Goulay. His wife’s infection actually spread to the valves of the heart. Two days later, on December 21, Alice Goulay was transferred to cardiology at Laval hospital: it was in this service that she had been operated on in July 2022 to put her pacemaker. But the doctors won’t be able to save her.

For its part, requested by France Bleu Mayenne, the Louverné health center does not wish to comment. The Laval hospital will make the telephone tapes available to the investigators, because all the calls from the Samu are recorded. The director of the hospital center also affirms that an analysis of the causes will be carried out internally, to “understand what happened” And “to prevent such events from happening again”.
