Kenyan police announced that they had arrested a “psychopathic serial killer” who confessed to killing 42 women. The news comes after nine mutilated bodies were found in a dump in the capital Nairobi.
Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, 33, arrested in the morning “confessed to luring, killing and disposing of 42 women’s bodies at the dump site” in Mukuru, south of the Kenyan capital, the head of the Criminal Investigations Directorate said at a press conference.
According to the latter, he was arrested in front of an establishment “where he had come to watch the final of the European Football Championship” which pitted Spain against England on Sunday evening. At the time of his arrest, the suspect “was luring another victim”the authorities added.
“We are dealing with a serial killer, a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life.”said the head of the Criminal Investigation Directorate. The suspect was found after analyzing the mobile phone of one of the victims.
A machete, “which we believe was used to dismember the victims”was found during the search of the suspect’s home, continued the head of the Criminal Investigation Directorate, describing Collins Jumaisi Khalusha as “vampire”. “Unfortunately, and this is very sad, the suspect claimed that his first victim was his wife (…) whom he strangled, before dismembering her body and dumping it” in the dump, he said. According to initial interrogations, all the victims were killed “in the same way”he said.
According to police, the search continues at the landfill and at the suspect’s home, which is located about 100 meters from the landfill. The murders are believed to have occurred between 2022 and July 11, 2024. The various victims are believed to be aged between 18 and 30. In addition, “A second suspect (…) was arrested with one of the victims’ phones”Amin Mohammed said without providing further details.
