In the United States, Joe Biden wanted to take advantage of a press conference on the occasion of NATO’s 75th anniversary to reassure people about his state of health on Thursday, July 11. But the American president made two new slips of the tongue, notably confusing Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin.
Joe Biden had set himself the goal of reassuring Americans. However, when he invited the Ukrainian president to speak, he made a slip of the tongue: “Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin!”. Before recovering: “Excuse me, he’s going to beat Putin!”The laughter in the room barely conceals the general unease. Two weeks after his catastrophic face-off with Donald Trump, this is fueling the debate about his clairvoyance.
For an hour, Joe Biden seemed clearer, more combative and more offensive towards his rival. He defended the continuation of his candidacy but reversed the name of Donald Trump with that of Vice President Kamala Harris. His Republican rival reacted with irony. Joe Biden counter-attacked a few hours later: “I can see the difference: one is a prosecutor, the other is a repeat offender.” Newly elected Democrats have asked him to give up his financial support, but Joe Biden has no intention of handing over the reins for the time being.
