Fenerbahçe will therefore be synonymous with disillusionment for Rennes. After seeing the Turkish club come back with two goals in the first leg at the end of the game (2-2), Stade Rennais this time released a three-goal advantage, Thursday, October 27, away (3-3) during of the 5th day of the Europa League. After a dreamy first half hour, marked by goals from Amine Gouiri (5th, 30th) and Martin Terrier (16th), the Rennais led 3-0 and were then virtually guaranteed to take first place in group B and to avoid playing the play-offs against a club transferred from the Champions League in February.
But once again, the Rennais have therefore cracked. First on a goal from Enner Valencia (42nd) just before the break, then on a free kick from Miha Zajc (82nd). The equalization of Emre Mor (88th) is all the more infuriating as it starts from a loss of ball from incoming Kamaldeen Sulemana in his own camp. Second in group B, Rennes will have to beat AEK Larnaca at home next week and hope for a misstep from Fenerbahçe on this 6th and final day to steal first place from them, which allows them to reach the knockout stages of the competition.
