It’s a new campaign that begins, almost three months before the presidential election. Joe Biden has finally given up his candidacy, amid concerns about his physical and mental capacities. After more than three weeks of intense pressure from within his own camp, the American president threw in the towel, and chose to support his vice-president, Kamala Harris, to lead the charge against the Republicans.

A Republican spot, entitled The Truth About Kamala Harriswas broadcast in some key presidential states just minutes after Joe Biden dropped out. In this sport, the Democrat’s laughter is played on repeat. Kamala Harris is presented as the dangerously left-wing chief architect of the migrant crisis.

“A disaster for America”according to right-wing commentator Laura Ingraham on Fox News: “She would change the White House from a place where the president is ignored to a place where the president is hated. Anybody who truly loves this country would never put us under the thumb of someone like Kamala Harris.”

Republicans already in battle formation against Kamala Harris. “Easier to beat than Joe Biden”assures Donald Trump. But nothing is less certain, affirms Joe Scarborough, former conservative elected official, who now officiates on the left-wing channel MSNBC: “Donald Trump has always seen himself as the ultimate agent of chaos. Now he’s the one who’s going to have to respond to this critical turning point in the campaign. They’re not happy at all.”

A Harris candidacy that seems to scare the Republicans and relaunches the campaign almost 100 days before the election.
