Bad news for the Blues. While the France team came close to relegation to League B of the League of Nations, after their defeat against Denmark on Sunday (2-0), Didier Deschamps’ men will pay for their bad European campaign.
With five small points gleaned in six games, the Blues are the worst third in League A. They switch to hat 2 of the qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship, which will take place from March 23, 2023 to March 26, 2024. This means that France will inevitably fall into a group with a top hat team, including top names like the Netherlands, Spain, Italy or Belgium, in its qualifying group for the next Euro.
On the other hand, the French already know that they will not face either England, Wales or Austria, which also appear in this hat 2. Other teams like Sweden (hat 3) or Turkey (hat 4) could also cause problems for the France team.
The draw for the group stage of the qualifications for the next Euro will take place on October 9 in Frankfurt (12:00 p.m.). At the end of these qualifiers, 20 teams will qualify directly, while three others will be able to access it via play-offs, linked to the Nations League rankings. There is no doubt that the Blues and Didier Deschamps will have an eye on the Frankfurt side, before planning for the World Cup in Qatar (November 20-December 18).
