after his forced departure from France 2 and the announcement of his cancer, journalist Matthieu Lartot speaks on Instagram

On April 18, the famous sports journalist Matthieu Lartot announced that he had cancer in his right knee. A leading figure in sport at France Télévisions, the 43-year-old man revealed at the same time that he is therefore forced to move away from the antenna to deal with his illness which is also a recurrence.

“For 3 weeks, I knew that this moment would arrive. Today I am forced to leave the antenna to get back into the ring and fight cancer a second time! 26 years later, the story unfortunately stutters. It there was a 1 to 5% chance of it happening and it happened. It will shake very hard but I am ready and very well surrounded” he declared in the columns of Parisian.

In the process, Matthieu Lartot also explained that he will have to undergo an amputation if he wants to stay alive. “I’m starting chemo this Monday. After that, I’ll have three weeks to restore my immunity that the first drugs will have destroyed. After this step, it will be “the surgical procedure (amputation: editor’s note) and finally, equipment and rehabilitation. I give myself all summer to acclimatize to my new mobility,” he explained with disconcerting serenity.

Two months after these announcements, Matthieu Lartot decided to give his news. “It’s time for the switch… After two months of chemo, serial Petscans, a mess of MRIs, weekly blood tests and all the rest… the lights are green and it’s already a very good thing in this long battle!” he explained on Instagram.

The journalist also took care to thank his fans who flooded him with messages of encouragement: “Tomorrow, the second half of protocol will begin. It will be tough, but I am embarking on this new ordeal with strength and determination. My entourage is extraordinary and gives me a lot of energy and love. I also don’t forget your countless messages of support which ‘force’ me to redouble my efforts to return to share my passion for sport with you.”
