after his eventful visit, Emmanuel Macron points to the responsibility of those who “are there with a political project, to serve the National Rally”

Despite a chaotic arrival, the president finally spent 13 hours in the aisles of the Exhibition Center, thanks to a large police force. According to him, clashes between farmers and police officers are the responsibility of Rural Coordination and benefit the RN.

“Who would have said this morning that 12 hours later we would find ourselves here continuing to work?” launches Emmanuel Macron, Saturday February 24, expressing his pride at having managed to spend the day there despite an arrival under high tension. If the president was able to stay for so long in the aisles of the Agricultural Show, it is thanks to a very important and rare police force.

Between the plainclothes agents and the uniformed CRS, 800 members of the police were deployed to form a real security bubble around Emmanuel Macron. Enough to keep at bay the group of angry farmers who continued to boo and shout “Macron resignation”. “We weren’t going to let 300 or 400 people spoil the show”justifies the president.

“When people take me for an imbecile I don’t like it”

It is therefore in this bubble and in a cordial atmosphere that the Head of State made a semblance of a stroll, meeting cattle breeders or representatives of the fishing industry. The Elysée took care to group several meetings together during a closed-door lunch, in order to avoid increasing the number of trips.

Emmanuel Macron has designated those they think are responsible for the excesses. The only union which did not clearly ask its troops to calm down after the three hours of debates in the morning: the Rural Coordination. “When people take me for an imbecile I don’t like it”, the president said, without mentioning the organization by name.

And he continues for the most angry demonstrators yesterday: “I recognize their slogans, I know where they come from. People are there with a political project: to serve the National Rally,” launches Emmanuel Macron. According to him, the RN seeks to take advantage of agricultural distress as part of its campaign for the European elections. By wanting less Europe, this party has a “project of degrowth and stupidity”declares the president who clearly directs the debate on the political level, while affirming that the Agricultural Show is not the place for that.

The presidential remarks annoyed the leaders of the National Rally. Jordan Bardella will not fail to answer it today: the president of the party will walk the aisles of the Salon on Sunday and Monday.
