Anti-whaling activist Paul Watson, arrested in Greenland on July 21, has “no regrets” although he risks being extradited to Japan, declared the president of the French branch of the NGO Sea Shepherd, Tuesday July 30. “Paul is doing well, he is keeping his spirits up. The 73-year-old American-Canadian activist, founder of the Sea Shepherd association, was arrested in Greenland, a self-governing Danish territory, under an international arrest warrant issued by Japan. He was apprehended on his ship, which had just docked in Nuuk to refuel for a“intercept” Japan’s new whaling factory ship in the North Pacific, the Captain Paul Watson Foundation detailed. He is to remain in custody in Greenland until August 15, while the Danish Justice Ministry decides whether to extradite him.
