Just 42 years old, the one who is in a relationship with ex-rugby player Pierre Rabadan, announced the bad news this Monday, November 28 on her Instagram account.
It was only a month before her speech that she learned the terrible news when doctors told her “you have cancer”. “Paf. We had to ‘do it quickly, because you have a young child’. ‘Total’, the maximum of salaries. I wondered right away if we could consider that as a kind of great advantage (“welcome Madame Delhostal, you are an ultra VIP, for you it will be all inclusive”). And how would we have done if I had an older child?”she recounts in her moving story.
Fight and media withdrawal
Laurie Delhostal explains later that she hesitated to follow the care because she thought she had no “not much time” and “better to do”. Finally, she resolves to follow the treatment and discovers the hell of it. “Then I ran a lot to feel alive before they made me sick to keep me alive. I discovered MRIs, Pet Scan, the Pac. Lots of medicine to keep from vomiting. The water polo cap frozen during chemo”.
The one who fights a disease that still affects far too many people today like Guillaume Durand, Catherine Matausch or Florent Pagny, manages to find humor in this complicated moment: “I immediately found advantages, like ‘One chemo = One gift’. The first was a cap. Pragmatism”. Since this announcement, Laurie Delhostal has obviously chosen to step back and no longer appear on TV, because she has no “no longer want to laugh in it”and even has “fear that my hair will suddenly fall out during a commercial”. She found the courage to talk about her illness and we wish her a lot of courage and strength to bring down this adversary.
