After a year at the head of the 13-hour newscast on TF1, what is the record of the one who replaced Jean-Pierre Pernaut

Almost a year ago, Jean-Pierre Pernaut bade farewell to the 1pm newscast on TF1 after 33 years of good and loyal service. To replace him, the first channel hired Marie-Sophie Lacarrau. This presented the 13 hours on France 2, from 2016 to 2020.

Quickly, the presenter performed well. In January 2021, it attracted 5.8 million viewers on average, or 42.6% of the public. That’s 900,000 more viewers than Jean-Pierre Pernaut’s audiences a year earlier. Nathalie Marquay Pernaut’s husband peaked at 4.9 million viewers, or 41.3% of the public as pointed out Le Figaro. “I think it’s because we are in continuity. With, in addition, a successful transition “, indicated the mother of the family to our colleagues from West France.

And according to Médiamétrie, the Aveyronnaise gathered 4.96 million people on average over the year, i.e. an audience share of 40.6% over four years and more. If last year, its predecessor had benefited from confinement to reach a score of 5.75 million (with nearly 41.8% of the public), it nevertheless approached the figures of JPP in 2019 (4.90 million viewers and 41.3% of the public, or 60,000 fewer faithful and 0.7 point more than Marie-Sophie Lacarrau, editor’s note).

For his part, his replacement on the second channel, Julian Bugier achieved good figures, even allowing himself to reduce the gap with TF1 over the period. As indicated by our colleagues from Pure Media, 2.75 million viewers and 20.6 points separated the two news in January against 2.10 million and 17.5 points in December.

Note that Marie-Sophie Lacarrau is replaced by her joker, Jacques Legros, since Monday December 20 and will be back in two weeks, on Monday January 3.
