Agricultural Show: after a stormy weekend, a return to calm in the aisles
Agricultural Show: after a stormy weekend, the return to calm in the aisles – (Franceinfo)
Calm returned to the Agricultural Show on Monday February 26, after a weekend marked by numerous tensions with the arrival of Emmanuel Macron.
Return to calm, Monday February 26, in the aisles of the Agricultural Show. Good news for some visitors who had planned it: “We took a day to come on a Monday, thinking that there would be fewer people and that it would be quieter.” Because this weekend, the atmosphere was very different, with a stormy visit for Emmanuel Macron and many tensions. Tensions which spoiled the day of some visitors according to Julien Négri, cattle breeder: “People waited outside for three hours with kids. We opened at 3 p.m., so they paid the entire entrance fee and barely benefited.”
A shortfall for farmers
A difficult day also for farmers. Fewer visitors means fewer customers and lower revenue for merchants. “The two Saturdays are the two biggest days of the show. So obviously, that’s a loss of income”, underlines Mickaël Delanotte, of the Cul Noir Pig Agricultural Cooperative. Farmers hope that the rest of the Show will be calmer. A wish expressed by the Prime Minister, visiting the day before, who does not want the event to be a campaign venue. Other political figures are expected. From Monday morning, Jordan Bardella and Éric Ciotti were present.
