After 65 years of radio, “The game of 1,000 euros” will be available on television on France 3

A cult radio game is coming to the small screen. “The game of 1,000 euros”, emblematic program of France Inter for 65 years, will be available in a TV version on France 3 at the start of the school year, the channel announced on Friday June 2. France 3 and France Inter, two public channels, have joined forces to create “this new version adapted for television”. She will bring together “the best candidates from the radio program and from all regions of France”according to a press release from France 3.

This TV version of the general knowledge game will be presented by Nicolas Stoufflet, at the helm of the radio show since 2008, accompanied by Carinne Teyssandier. They will decide between ten pairs of candidates each week. With his famous xylophone notes punctuating the questions, “The 1000 euro game” has existed since 1958: it is the oldest on French radio.

“Two rounds and a final, with new rules”

It was successively called “Cent mille francs per day”, “Mille francs per day” then “Le Jeu des 1000 francs”, the name under which it marked the memories, before taking its current name because of the transition to the euro in 2002. This game was presented by Lucien Jeunesse for thirty years, until 1995. It was Louis Bozon who succeeded him, after the hypothesis of the abolition of the program had triggered protests from listeners.

The TV version “will be played in two rounds and a final, with new rules”according to France 3. However, we will find “the identity elements of the game: the progressiveness of the questions”with “the famous blue, white, red questions, or even the Banco and Super Banco tests”.
