after 12 seasons, TF1’s flagship program is coming to an end… find out why!

It was on February 12, 2011 that the very first season of “Dancing with the stars” was broadcast on TF1. Every year since then, the channel has thrilled viewers with shows punctuated by the prowess of celebrities and the original choreography of professionals. The twelfth season of the program thus ended in November 2022, with the victory with great fanfare of Billy Crawford.
And while we thought that the production and the channel were currently working on the next edition, we learned this Friday, February 10, 2023 that a season 13 could never see the light of day. On Twitter, journalist Clément Garin has indeed declared that the flagship program will not be there this year.

“The program “Dancing with the stars” will not be back in 2023 on TF1, the channel wishing to favor “Koh-Lanta” (again with a rhythm of 2 seasons per year), the Rugby World Cup, “The Voice Kids” and the new season of “Star Academy” (which, although unsigned, remains obvious)” assures the journalist and columnist of “Touche pas à mon poste”.

Dancing with the stars: a losing cast?
If for some years, the production struggled to get famous celebrities to participate, viewers regularly complained about the absence of “real stars” in the program. The presence of Pamela Anderson, Dita Von Teese or even Jean-Paul Gaultier as a juror failed to satisfy the public… also tired of seeing the many actors in TF1 series such as “Tomorrow belongs to us” or “Here it all begins” follow one another on the floor of studio 217.

Thus, the launch of the twelfth season in September 2022 had attracted only 3,029,000 viewers on average. By way of comparison, the first episode of the eleventh edition had meanwhile federated 4,330,000 viewers on average. The starting record had been observed during the fourth season with more than 6 million viewers in front of their small screens.
