After 10 seasons on “Top Chef”, Jean-François Piège atomizes Stéphane Rotenberg’s show!

After Zero Fat And Zero Meathere is Zero Wastepublished by the editions Hachette Cuisinethe new project from the two-star chef Jean-François Piège. In this work, the former member of the jury of Top chef on M6 tackles, as its title indicates, the reduction of food waste. It presents nearly 50 recipes to make with the leftovers from a cooking recipe.

These ideas are timely, especially in these times of increasing inflation when the French are looking to save. “While preparing broccoli for my children, I noticed that there was more on the board than in the pan. That’s when I realized that it was essential to use everything and not to waste anything. The goal is zero waste! I thought about it, worked on recipes, carried out tests, some of which were unsuccessful, but I kept the best”explained the father of two children during his visit to the Buzz TV from FigaroTuesday, September 12, 2023.

Jean-François Piège grateful to “Top Chef”

In addition to his new book and his successful career, the chef also discussed his experience in Top chefthe program of M6 animated by Stephane Rotenberg, where he officiated for ten seasons and of which he has excellent memories. Especially since his time on the show had a huge impact on his career, as he reminded our colleagues.

“When I started Top Chef, I only had one restaurant and no children. Since then, I have embraced entrepreneurship with my wife, opened several restaurants, written books, communicated on social networks , had two children, and I still haven’t found a way to extend the days to 24 hours. (Laughs) Besides, I recorded one of the best audiences in the history of the show.”declared the father of two children with satisfaction, before announcing that he would no longer return to the show: “It was a great step in my life, but I have moved on”.

But not a fan of the new version

It is possible that the change made in the program of M6 influenced his decision. Indeed, Jean-François Piège admits to not being a fan of the changes made to the show. “Think about it, I was in the prime time viewers’ living room every week for ten years! In Top Chef, I never sought to put on a show, I was there to cook on television. At the beginning , the candidates didn’t know what to expect, and we discovered everything at the same time as them…”has recalled Jean-François Piègebefore observing: “The show has evolved since I left. I really liked the beginnings because there was a touching sincerity. Today, it has become more of a place for staging. I will not pass judgment on this evolution , but I preferred the first seasons.”
