Kabul police said one woman died and three others were injured in the attack on the bus.

In total, dozens of people have been killed and dozens of others injured in deadly attacks in the last two weeks of the month of Ramadan, which ends on Sunday.

This is the second bomb attack in the capital in a short period of time. On Friday, ten people were killed in an attack on a mosque while worshipers were performing their religious rituals.

No group claimed responsibility for Friday’s mosque attack, but in a statement on Sunday, IS said it was behind the bus attack.

IS has claimed responsibility for several bombings in recent weeks, particularly those targeting minority Shia and Sufi communities in Afghanistan, which has a Sunni majority.

Taliban officials insist their forces have defeated IS, but analysts say the jihadist group remains a major security concern within the country.

Kabul police have promised to “guarantee security” during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of Ramadan.
